Acrylic on skateboard deck
There’s something about this time of year—the way the sky darkens earlier, the air shifts, and the crows begin to gather.
Not just one or two, but hundreds.
Filling the trees. Moving together. Calling to each other in a language that feels both chaotic and completely intentional.
I’ve been noticing them more lately.
Standing outside and watching as they circle overhead before settling in, as if they all know exactly where they’re meant to be.
This piece started with that image—a tree filled with crows under a night sky—but somewhere along the way, it became something else.
It became about presence.
About awareness.
About being part of something larger, even when everything feels quiet.
There’s a kind of comfort in that.
In knowing that even in the dark, there is movement.
There is connection.
There is a rhythm we’re still a part of, whether we realize it or not.
